چکیده

The PhD research exposed in this paper aims to develop workflows for fine scale study of climate change and its impact on agriculture using volunteered geographic information in phenology. First, a consistency checking workflow was developed to ensure the quality of volunteered observations. Next, by using novel predictors, spatio-temporal variation in plant phenology is modeled so that we can move from point-related to gridded phenological products. After that, long term gridded time series of phenological data relevant to agriculture is generated using the developed phenological models.

Validation of Volunteered Geographic Information Landuse Change Using Satellite Imagery

Land use change monitoring is one of the main concerns of managers and urban planners due to human activities and unbalanced physical development in urban areas. In this paper, a combination of remote sensing data and volunteered geographic information was used to assess the quality of volunteered geographic information on land use and land cover changes monitoring. For this purpose, the ORBVIE...

Investigation of the effect of climate change on runoff curve number by using GIS and RS (case study: Mansourabad and Navroud watersheds)

Application of gepraphic information system and image processing in evaluation of surface runoff of a watershed in recent years has increased greatly. In the study , the runoff curve number map was prepared using geographic information system (GIS)and Landsat Sattelite Images (ETM+)for two watersheds of Mansourabad in southern Khorasan province and Navroud in Gilan province based on the facto...

How will climate change spatially affect agriculture production in Ethiopia? Case studies of important cereal crops

Nearly all of Ethiopia’s agriculture is dependent on rainfall, particularly the amount and seasonal occurrence. Future climate change predictions agree that changes in rainfall, temperature, and seasonality will impact Ethiopia with dramatic consequences. When, where, and how these changes will transpire has not been adequately addressed. The objective of our study was to model how projected cl...

Inland wetlands mapping and vulnerability assessment using an integrated geographic information system and remote sensing techniques

The understanding of inland wetlands’ distribution and their level of vulnerability is important to enhance management and conservation efforts. The aim of the study was to map inland wetlands and assess their distribution pattern and vulnerability to natural and human disturbances such as climate change (temperature increase) and human activities by the year 2080. Inland wetland types i.e. for...

Climate change and the potential global distribution of Aedes aegypti: spatial modelling using geographical information system and CLIMEX

We examined the potential added risk posed by global climate change on the dengue vector Aedes aegypti abundance using CLIMEX, a powerful tool for exploring the relationship between the fundamental and realised niche of any species. After calibrating the model using data from several knowledge domains, including geographical distribution records, we estimated potential distributions of the mosq...
